Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport


General Info: The airport is comprised of about 1100 acres. It has two runways. The main runway 2-20 is 7400' long and is the one generally used by commercial aircraft. The second runway is 15-33. It is 5000' long. Runways are numbered based upon their direction. Thus Runway 2-20 runs in a line on a compass roughly from 20 degrees, or NNE to SSW.

History: The first terminal building was constructed in the 1930's with a significant addition in the mid-1950's. In 1964 a new modern terminal was opened. It served the community until the current terminal was constructed in 1991-92. The old terminal had approximately 63,000 sq. ft. The new facility has 126,000 sq. ft. and can be easily expanded.

Directions:
From Monteagle, TN, Start out going South on Airport Rd. towards Airport Connector Rd. by turning left. Turn right onto ramp. Merge onto Shepherd Rd. Take the TN-153 S ramp. Merge onto TN-153 S. Take the I-75 S exit towards Chattanooga/Atlanta. Merge onto I-75 S. Take the I-24 W exit, exit number 2, towards Chattanooga/Birmingham. Merge onto I-24 W. Take the US-41 A/US-64 exit, exit number 134, towards Monteacle/Sewanee. Keep right at the fork in the ramp. Merge onto US-41 A/US-64. US-41A/US-64 becomes US-41/US-64. Total Estimated Time: 1 hour, 1 min.

From Dayton, TN, Start out going South on Airport Rd. towards Airport Connector Rd. by turning left. Turn right onto ramp. Merge onto Shepherd Rd. Turn left to take the TN-153 N ramp. Merge onto TN-153 N. Take the US-27 N exit. Merge onto US-27 N. US-27 N becomes US-27 BYP N/TN-29 N. Turn left onto TN-60 Turn right onto US-27 BR/TN-29 ALT. Total Estimated Time: 59 min.

Parking: Short-term parking at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, located adjacent to the terminal, is convenient and available for travelers, with passenger pickups, departures and arrivals centralized all in one place. Intermediate-term parking is only a short walk from the terminal, with unlimited use, unlike Atlanta's one to three day restrictions. Long-term parking, located next to the terminal, offers easy accessibility for travelers, unlike big city airports that rely on transportation via monorail or bus shuttle.
